"Over There"

“Over There”

It is easy to forget about the war that we’ve been in for the last 7 years. We
have countless solutions for modern living to make every aspect of our lives more
tolerable. It is these constant distractions from the world outside of our daily lives
that provide us with the privilege to work our jobs, learn in our schools, take time
with our friends and families, and eat our meals in the peace that we have denied
our enemies. What has been removed from our field of vision is how our freedom to
enjoy our lives comes at the expense of innocence under the auspices of democracy.

The Opinion Research Business, an independent British polling agency, found
that there were roughly 1,033,000 casualties that took place between the invasion of
Iraq in March 2003 and the date of their poll in August 19th, 2007. If this number
were stretched to fill the last 7 years since the invasion with a regular interval
between deaths, then there would be one death every three and a half minutes. The
bell above rings once for every person that has lost their life as a result of this
conflict.

This is the second bread man that Corinna and I have created. We're looking into other forms of armature. Getting the forms to sit in a believe posture is the most difficult aspect of this project.
